Eye-opening experience! Photos don’t do the tunnels justice.
Review of: Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple Full Day Tour from Ho Chi Minh City
Two of us went on this tour with guide Field, who was consistently polite, thoughtful, entertaining and very informative throughout the tour. On the way to the tunnels, he explained some of the history of the war and its effects on this region. The tunnels site has been turned into a kind of exhibition which really helped us gain a better understanding of wartime conditions, and how desperate of a struggle it must have been. Field did a great job of describing the various areas and giving us more historical context to appreciate what we saw.
Visited the temple after seeing the tunnels and reached there before noon, though unfortunately there was no noon service because it was the eve of Tet. Still, it was a very unique temple to visit, well worth checking out if you’re in the region (especially if you’re with an knowledgeable guide – like Field – who can tell you more about the Cao Dai religion).

Our guide, Viet, was really great. His English was good and his knowledge was vast. Not just of the areas we visited, but of South East Asia and its history. I would definitely recommend this trip and if you’re lucky enough to get Viet as your guide, then you’ll be assured of a great day.

Best experience of our entire trip!
I was traveling in Ho Chi Minh City with my mother and my 4-yr old daughter, and am usually not a fan of tours, preferring to explore on my own. But, that is a bit difficult in Vietnam, as transportation around the country is not very convenient. I booked two separate day tours through Viator (a website that compiles tours from all over), not knowing which tour company I would get. The first day-tour was for Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple, and the second was for Mekong Delta. Both tours were new to Viator, without much reviews. On a similar Cu Chi Tunnel/Cao Dai Temple tour, but not for the one I booked, the reviewers complained about feeling rushed from one attraction to another, so I was a bit worried. Turned out I had no reason to worry! The tour was very relaxed, and we were able to move at our own pace. Our tour guide’s name was Vy, and she said she worked for Roadstour Vietnam. The tour included a car and driver. The car was very clean, the driver was friendly, and Vy was quite knowledgeable. Her English was excellent, and we had no trouble communicating. My daughter is very hesitant with strangers, but she and Vy clicked immediately! In fact, my daughter preferred sitting with her than with me! Vy ended up taking on two roles, as our tour guide, and watching/entertaining my daughter. She’s a natural with kids, being quite at ease around them. If Vy is representative of the tour guides that Roadstour Vietnam has, then I highly recommend them to everyone. If I have the chance to return to Vietnam, I will definitely book with Roadstour Vietnam again, and hope that Vy is still working there so she can be our tour guide again!
